Mother Self supports women through the emotional and identity shifts of early motherhood.
This work creates space for the parts of motherhood rarely spoken aloud, the isolation and loneliness, the exhaustion that touches every part of life, the quiet shame of wondering if you’re doing enough, and the questioning of identity that can come with becoming a mother. Through honest conversation and grounded support, mothers are reminded that they are not failing, not alone, and not lost to motherhood — but slowly finding themselves again within it.
Talia Gutin is the founder of Mother Self and the author of the published poetry collection The Mother Self. She has 5000+ hours of working with clients over the last decade, including individuals, couples, families, and groups. Her work is rooted in the belief that motherhood doesn't just change your life—it changes you. Early motherhood can unravel identities, surface unexpected grief, and awaken parts of yourself you never knew existed. It is a profound transition that deserves more than survival; it deserves space, support, and honest conversation.
Talia Gutin is a mother, writer, and certified therapeutic coach.
She works with women in early motherhood who are overwhelmed, emotionally stretched thin, and quietly wondering why this season feels so much harder than they expected. Her work helps mothers stay connected to themselves as their lives, identities, relationships, and inner worlds begin to shift.
She is the author of The Mother Self.
Her work has grown into a practice that supports women through the emotional and identity shifts of motherhood — offering language for the feelings many mothers cannot name, tools for navigating the intensity of the experience, and space to stay present inside of it.
To the Mother
in the In-Between
Maybe from the outside, it looks like you're holding it all together.
You're showing up for your children. Keeping up with the endless demands. Reading the parenting books. Preparing healthy snacks and meals. Trying to savor the moment and doing your best to be the kind of mother you want to be.
And yet, somewhere underneath it all, you feel far away from yourself.
You love your children deeply, and yet find yourself wondering where you went.
There may be grief here. Loneliness. A longing for parts of yourself you've lost or left behind. There may be questions you haven't had space to ask, emotions you haven't had time to feel.
And beneath all of it, a desire to move through motherhood with more honesty, softness, and support. To slow down enough to hear yourself again. To reconnect with the woman beneath the roles, responsibilities, and endless giving.
