About
Talia Gutin
A mother, writer,
and therapeutic coach.
Talia Gutin is a mother, writer, and therapeutic coach with over 10 years of practicing somatic, therapeutic, and clinical work with mothers and families.
Her call to write poetry began in the early days of postpartum with her first child. A time that felt as sacred as it was disorienting. Everything familiar asked to be relearned. She began writing poetry to stay close to this transformative experience.
Small moments. Sharp feelings. The quiet initiation into motherhood.
That writing became The Mother Self, a book of poetry that gives language to the internal experience of motherhood. Women who read it recognize themselves within its pages.
Alongside her writing, Talia holds a master’s degree from New York University, where she studied Social Work and Creative Writing. She is trained in somatic experiencing, mindfulness-based therapy, and therapeutic coaching, and is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI).
Her six years at Mindful Marriage and Family Therapy in New York City deepened her understanding of relationships, family systems, attachment patterns, and the ways we learn to hold ourselves together. She brings over 5,000 hours of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
Her work brings these worlds together.
A way of being with yourself that is honest.
Where you can feel without rushing past it.
Where your inner experience is not dismissed or explained away.
Motherhood doesn’t just change your life. It reveals what has always been there—patterns, fears, sensitivities that ask to be met.
Working with women inside this experience has shaped Talia’s deeper calling.
Mother Self is an invitation to move through motherhood differently. To slow down, to stay close, and to live it as a path of becoming.

Unfolding into Motherhood
Mother Self envisions a motherhood that is lived, not performed. A way of moving through this season of life that allows women to remain connected to themselves as they change.
Not disappearing into the role, but becoming more deeply themselves within it.
We see motherhood as an initiation that reshapes you — not something you need to "bounce back" from.
In this debut collection of poetry, The Mother Self guides readers along the raw and transformative path of early motherhood.
"Talia put words to feelings I have only felt. Tender, visceral, breathtaking. Each word on every page. This book is for every mother."
